Day 1: Budapest, Hungary - Tour Begins

Your tour of Budapest features the historic Buda Castle-area, Fisherman's Bastion and 500-year-old St. Matthias Church. Enjoy splendid views of the twin cities of Buda and Pest, spread over both banks of the river.

Day 3: Budapest – Bratislava, Slovakia - Vienna, Austria - Board Ship
Today, arrive in Slovakia's capital, Bratislava. A city tour includes the 13th-century castle, the old town, St. Martin's Cathedral, Michael's Gate and the Archbishop's palace. Next, travel to Austria's capital city, beautiful Vienna. Board your ship for a relaxing 12-night river cruise on the Avalon Affinity. Meet your fellow travellers at a welcome cocktail reception.

Day 4: Vienna
Join a local expert exploring Vienna's Imperial architecture including the Hofburg Palace, the Vienna Opera House, the Ringstrasse and St. Stephen's Cathedral. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 5: Melk - Grein
Cruise through the Wachau Valley and arrive in charming Melk. A guided tour visits Melk's magnificent 900-year-old Benedictine Abbey, one of Europe’s largest baroque monasteries.

Day 6: Passau, Germany
Cruise to Passau, where the rivers Inn and Ilz join the Danube. Enjoy a walking tour of this beautiful town, home to St. Stephan’s Cathedral and the world’s largest church organ.

Day 7: Regensburg
Arrive in magnificent Regensburg, one of Germany's best preserved medieval cities. A city walk features the Old Town Hall, the Old Chapel, St. Peter's Cathedral and the Porta Pretoria. Tonight, the ship enters the first stretch of the fascinating Main-Danube Canal as you make your way towardss Nuremberg.

Day 8: Nuremberg
Depart on a guided tour of Nuremberg, Bavaria’s second largest city. View the 900-year-old ramparts, the Imperial Castle and the Justice Palace. Later, continue sailing and arrive at the stair-step locks where you will ascend to the highest point of your cruise. After dinner, enjoy a tasting of some of Germany’s famous beers!

Day 9: Bamberg
Today cruise through the final stretch of the Main-Danube Canal to Bamberg, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Disembark for a guided tour of this medieval gem, founded in 902.

Day 10: Würzburg
Arrive in Würzburg, "The Pearl of the Romantic Road." Nearly destroyed during WWII, Würzburg has been rebuilt into a beautiful Franconian town. Enjoy time to see the magnificent Bishops' Residence, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue cruising through the Franconian wine region.

Day 11: Wertheim - Miltenberg
Visit the city of Wertheim and enjoy free time exploring the historic town square. Later, arrive in Miltenberg for a walking tour along the town's cobblestone streets and gabled, half-timbered houses. You will also learn how to bake a local soft cookie speciality!

Day 12: Rüdesheim
This morning, cruise along a beautiful stretch of the Rhine. Sail through the dramatic Rhine Gorge, dotted with hilltop castles. See the legendary Lorelei Rock before arriving in Rüdesheim, a charming Rhine Valley wine town. Visit Siegfried´s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum for a guided tour. Explore the pedestrian street, Drosselgasee, and sample some local wines.

Cruise the scenic Rhine River to Cologne, one of Germany's oldest cities. Walk through the old part of the city which houses the twin-steepled, 13th-century gothic cathedral.
